Job Description
This position will have operational skills needed to monitor and handle workload-related issues, i.e., monitoring and taking action on long-running jobs, cancelling high CPU-consuming jobs, recycling sub-systems, etc
Basic skills required
- Using Netview/Omegamon/RMF to Monitor jobs/resource consumption and take action when necessary
- Take the appropriate, predefined recovery actions (job cancelling, Job holds, Freezeframes, etc.) for the various operational events such as looping jobs, abends, spool alerts, etc
- Experience monitoring the system and reacting to problem alerts
- Knowledge of starting, stopping, and recycling z/OS started tasks
- Knowledge of starting, stopping, and recycling CICS, DB2, IMS, and MQ
- Working experience with taking systems dumps and traces
- Knowledge of Unicom Macro 4 Freeze Frame is a plus
- Understanding of job schedulers and their functionality
- Understanding of workload management functions including service class uses
Qualifications Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
